Praise This

I think this video is up there as one of the best ever. The song is great, the video was so original at the time, it had never been done before. It just makes it all the better that the actual director choreographed it, and danced in it. The people's reactions are priceless and the whole ridiculousness of it is so funny!

Guerilla Time.

Though they are growing a bit boring now, you gotta love U2. They have had many great videos over the years, but this one sprang to my mind today. It was so weird to watch it for so many reasons. This video is about 20 years old and it's strange to see them looking so young and earnest!  It's also strange to notice how much the world has changed since then. I would think a band would never get the permission for something like this in the first place now a days and it seems like the police also have more power now then they used to.  I suppose we can also thank Mr. Bush for that one!

In this long version it really makes me laugh about how the radio people keep talking about how it's not a good neighbourhood! Bono never did have long hair again after this... I just can't get over how young they look! Their next album was Achtung Baby where they started taking themselves less seriously and began to play with the ideas of image. There's actually a really interesting book written about this time in the bands career and what was happening in the world then. It's called U2 at the end of the world.

I Love Irony

I love Irony, the 90's loved Irony and Nada Surf  did Irony well in this video. I also love the creepy aspect it gives High School. Good thing they can never make you go back!

Madonna

Though I am not a fan of the bondage look, I love the movement and choreography. It really does echo the sense of repression talked about in the song. I find the song funny though, she seems pretty bothered for some one who claims she doesn't care what the critics say. She always seems to forget that yes, she has the right to say and do what she wants, but the public also has the right not too like it and say what they think about it. That's what happens when you put something in the public domain; you choose to do it but don't get to choose the reactions. So know pity for you!

No Greater Contrast Possible.

Two classics that couldn't be further apart in music and in video style...

Before Gorillaz there was Prozzak. A band that never took itself too seriously and made fun upbeat candy coated pop music and animated videos.

Great video and shows how a great front man and a good editor can be all you need. I'll bet he has huge chiro bills now though.

Classics

This video is an example of a Classic. Story line videos are always fun. I love that this one has nothing to do with the song but still captures the moodiness of it. The way that the milk box walks in time to the beat and slightly strangely is very charming. At first he finds friendly people to help him, but alas, his innocence is threatened as he sees milk murder and can carnage! Ultimately he is successful and reunites the lost "boy" (ha ha) with his family. Very few bands and songs can get away with something this cute, but Blur pulls it off. It's because it is well done and oh so random. The hipsters love random!
