I know I shouldn't, but I like this video... okay I was a Take That fan. And they're back! And Robbie's with them! How can you not like slightly scruffy pop music. How can you not like this video when you see Robbie go by on his bike, he does slightly menacing on a BMX bike so well! Chain mail! Breastplates! Keytars! Parade leader Batons! All without irony.... okay except for Robbie, he knows...Real Life Dis-Functionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09079881649558554991noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5945099798096782027.post-69260888094162831592011-01-07T21:16:00.000-08:002011-01-07T21:16:02.278-08:00Don't Go!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/o580hayuCUo?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">A song on a commercial reminded me of this band, i used to have this CD but lent it to a friends sister and then she became an ex-friend. Ahhh the joys of being in your early 20's. Anyway it was a great CD. Their videos are very 90's and good, nothing ground breaking or amazing though they make me dizzy, too much crazy camera work. I wonder what happened to them....I should see if their album is still available...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

This is a terrible video from the late 70's, you can blame the beauty company Lush for its apperance today. I was downtown when I came across 2 girls and a bunch of guys doing a choreographed routine to this song. At first I thought it was the worst flash mob ever, but it turns out it was promotion for a new shower gel call "it's raining men". I did get a full sized sample!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/9tio-YWTBHo?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><br />
Now this is a much better version, but only because it's paying homage to 80's dance flicks. I do have to point out that the dancer at the begining is certainly not Geri Halliwell herself. Both of these videos actually show unhealthy extremes in body image. The original contains to ladies that are going to die young and have a lower quality of life due to the extent of their obesity. Geri Halliwell on the other hand looks disturbingly skinny, especially compared to her former weight. Besides the constant obsession it takes to maintain that kind of body on a person who's not natureally skinny, all sorts of problems come with being underweight. She also makes her self a complete FASO in this video.Real Life Dis-Functionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09079881649558554991noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5945099798096782027.post-82435782259941488062011-01-05T18:38:00.000-08:002011-01-05T18:38:46.083-08:00This Movement Moves Me!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/Szw9QHCZRtU?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><br />
I love this band and this song, but have never seen any of their videos until today. I like it! It starts off cool enough, everyone looking hipster aloof with some nice tight shots of the faces, and then; bam! I love how they start playing with light. It really gives the video some bold shots, and interesting ones too. The saddest thing is that this band is no longer together and they only ever made the one brilliant album. Sob!Real Life Dis-Functionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09079881649558554991noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5945099798096782027.post-20549839884220486642011-01-04T19:41:00.000-08:002011-01-04T19:41:59.347-08:00<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/AYC2FUutdKA?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><br />
Ha ha ha ha, it looks like this band has combined the 2 major musical movements in the '90s; heroine chic grunge and pretty boy, boy bands! Besides the fact that seeing both these guys mak-ing out with random girls is gross, this video was cheaply done, and it looks it. It's funny how they have a well known guest artist on this song, but it seems like they are trying to hide her in the video. Really I find this whole video odd, it doesn't flow well, the colour is wrong, the styling and make up are badly done too.Real Life Dis-Functionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09079881649558554991noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5945099798096782027.post-89633270262297756652011-01-04T14:14:00.000-08:002011-01-04T14:14:19.007-08:00Praise This<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/4ULVQOneeZE?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><br />
I think this video is up there as one of the best ever. The song is great, the video was so original at the time, it had never been done before. It just makes it all the better that the actual director choreographed it, and danced in it. The people's reactions are priceless and the whole ridiculousness of it is so funny!Real Life Dis-Functionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09079881649558554991noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5945099798096782027.post-7904002573343283732011-01-03T23:02:00.000-08:002011-01-03T23:02:07.921-08:00Guerilla Time.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/GzZWSrr5wFI?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><br />
Though they are growing a bit boring now, you gotta love U2. They have had many great videos over the years, but this one sprang to my mind today. It was so weird to watch it for so many reasons. This video is about 20 years old and it's strange to see them looking so young and earnest! It's also strange to notice how much the world has changed since then. I would think a band would never get the permission for something like this in the first place now a days and it seems like the police also have more power now then they used to. I suppose we can also thank Mr. Bush for that one!<br />
<br />
In this long version it really makes me laugh about how the radio people keep talking about how it's not a good neighbourhood! Bono never did have long hair again after this... I just can't get over how young they look! Their next album was Achtung Baby where they started taking themselves less seriously and began to play with the ideas of image. There's actually a really interesting book written about this time in the bands career and what was happening in the world then. It's called U2 at the end of the world.Real Life Dis-Functionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09079881649558554991noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5945099798096782027.post-25517051200317395602011-01-02T21:41:00.000-08:002011-01-02T21:41:46.092-08:00Can I Have You Stop Singing?<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/FGgUQf6N0kI?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><br />
FASO alert! Ahhh JRDN besides being able to text your name quickly I'm not seeing a lot of point to your career or this video, though it looks like you could easily make the leap to porn; he's getting a lot of practice getting it on, on camera. Intrestingly enough "having it all" only applys to purchasable goods. Respect? Fidelity? Not being objectified and made to look like a gold digger? Sorry baby, that's not the way he rolls...Real Life Dis-Functionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09079881649558554991noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5945099798096782027.post-40841436444813935782011-01-02T21:26:00.000-08:002011-01-02T21:26:35.830-08:00I Love Irony<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/RNc45FTenhg?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><br />
I love Irony, the 90's loved Irony and Nada Surf did Irony well in this video. I also love the creepy aspect it gives High School. Good thing they can never make you go back!Real Life Dis-Functionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09079881649558554991noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5945099798096782027.post-9480523196103209642011-01-02T18:00:00.000-08:002011-01-02T18:00:53.104-08:00Madonna<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/GS6FCoq349o?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">Though I am not a fan of the bondage look, I love the movement and choreography. It really does echo the sense of repression talked about in the song. I find the song funny though, she seems pretty bothered for some one who claims she doesn't care what the critics say. She always seems to forget that yes, she has the right to say and do what she wants, but the public also has the right not too like it and say what they think about it. That's what happens when you put something in the public domain; you choose to do it but don't get to choose the reactions. So know pity for you!</div>Real Life Dis-Functionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09079881649558554991noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5945099798096782027.post-90688800066155305332011-01-02T00:11:00.000-08:002011-01-02T00:11:50.033-08:00No Greater Contrast Possible.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Two classics that couldn't be further apart in music and in video style...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div style="text-align: center;">In a song that is supposed to be talking about abusive relationships, why do they insist on making such look so sexy and appealing. It's irresponsible. Talk is cheap, actions speak louder than words. Theses are not mindless phrases but truths. Putting 2 average people and shooting it straight with out the sexy editing would make it more responsible. All they are showing the kids (and that's the main market for these videos); is that if you want a passionate relationship you have to expect a little bit of abuse. And it is not okay for a girl to hit a guy either. If you use violence as a way of dealing with your emotions, you're going to get it in return, regardless of your gender.</div>Real Life Dis-Functionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09079881649558554991noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5945099798096782027.post-7256677472037705602011-01-01T15:48:00.000-08:002011-01-01T15:48:33.673-08:00I like throwing the paint!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/-nBU9VR2X5g?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><br />
All these pop bands sound and look the same, even their videos. I know you people want to make money but really, don't you ever get bored of the cookie cutter? They always like to use the newest technology and this year has been big on the "still". Taking a shot frozen but being able to move around it. It's a cool visual trick and is great for music videos where you have a short time and want to keep the movement yet at the same time can imbibe it with a sense of stillness. It just tends to be used for the same thing. Emotional, overwrought power ballads. This video is not terrible, just not original or memorable. I think I'm going to start keeping track of videos with pianos in them and what percent will at some point involve a woman draped over it.... In this video I have to wonder about the dirty bandages on his hands; where the rest of the band is and what's with the sudden switch to bright coloured shirts? Oh there's some of the band, you'll notice in music videos women always play the strings. I guess those are girlie instruments and are okay by the largely male dominated music industry. It's still going....Real Life Dis-Functionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09079881649558554991noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5945099798096782027.post-14176691849750784822011-01-01T11:23:00.000-08:002011-01-01T11:23:39.024-08:00Comments!My stats say people are actually reading my random video rantings, so please leave comments! I like this video. Great choreography and original. I'm indifferent to the song and don't really know much about the Beibers music. Usher is okay, but I don't get why everyone things he's good looking! He may be smooth, but not a looker. By the way Beibs you do have someone to love. Here's my list of....<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>THE TOP 5 VIDEOS I WISH I HAD NEVER SEEN! </b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><span style="font-size: x-small;">(aka I'll never get that time back/ my eyes are bleeding)</span> </b></span><br />
<br />
In no particular order....<br />
<br />
1. Katy Perry <i>California Girls</i><br />
Making yourself FASO is not okay. The song is silly and shooting whipped cream from your bra is lame and tacky.<br />
<br />
2. Lady Gaga <i>Alejandro</i><br />
Odd and Boring, now that's talent! The song is a super lame rip off of Maddona's <i>La Lisa Bonita.</i><br />
<br />
<br />
<i></i><br />
<i></i>3. Faber Drive <i>The Payoff</i><br />
Oh look another pop punk band railing against "the man". Gee I wonder what happen to all the original punks? Like the original hippies they are now the man. It's called the circle of life little boys.<br />
<br />
4. Katy Perry <i>Teenage Dreams</i><br />
Oh, how old are you again Katy; 26? Yes selling a unrealistic and ridiculous fantasy back to teenagers. No teenager looks like that, and being 16 and behaving like that is a bad idea. Kids be kids as long as you can! You only get to do it once. Being an adult is not far behind and lasts the rest of your life.<br />
<br />
5. Enirque Iglesias <i>I like it</i><br />
Really, as soon as I saw those kids from the Jersey Shore I stopped watching. <br />
<br />
I was going to make this a top 10 list, but I go bored. Lucky for Katy Perry!<br />

Muse is a great band; this is a great song, this video is wack. I can say this because I was around when wack first became slang. It is very salvageable. Lose the dancer in her weird costume and inexplicably dirty running shoes and ditch the full screen shots of the words and you have a decent video. While you're at it, fire the overpaid director. Not memorable, but not the strangely embarrassing art project they have now.Real Life Dis-Functionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09079881649558554991noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5945099798096782027.post-87413332121904086982010-12-30T19:31:00.000-08:002010-12-30T19:31:46.974-08:00Two words: Cheap models.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><object width="320" height="266" class="BLOGGER-youtube-video" classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0" data-thumbnail-src="http://1.gvt0.com/vi/_9PYdMFgi-E/0.jpg"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/_9PYdMFgi-E&fs=1&source=uds" /><param name="bgcolor" value="#FFFFFF" /><embed width="320" height="266" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/_9PYdMFgi-E&fs=1&source=uds" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"></embed></object> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I love this song but not so much the video. It has two redeeming factors, two FASO's (females as sexual object) and too many Hip Hop cliche's. Ugh. This is a good Canadian video. Marinas Trench and Shawn Desman annoyed me so much I had to prove that we do make good videos...Real Life Dis-Functionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09079881649558554991noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5945099798096782027.post-45485884208105918772010-12-29T16:49:00.000-08:002010-12-29T16:49:43.488-08:00Bored!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/tEYdyPc8Mjo?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><br />
Overwrought song, and overspent on lame-o video. Oh look at the tough guys coming! Ha ha everyone is so pretentious, especially with the break in the song to play out the badly scripted Drama. None of these people look at all convincing in their roles, and certainly not tough. They are all a bunch of kids? Maybe this is the High School cafeteria on a fancy dress up day? Ah good old Canadians, we used to make good videos. The best part is when a girl sitting at one of the tables half-heartedly hands the hero a bottle. I've always wanted to get one of those special break away glass bottles and give it a try..... now that would be a great Christmas present!Real Life Dis-Functionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09079881649558554991noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5945099798096782027.post-73161529923208758502010-12-29T16:34:00.000-08:002010-12-29T16:34:51.283-08:00Hey, Ho; No FASO!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/25LBTSUEU0A?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><br />
I love this song, and the video is not bad. I'm really impressed by the fact it's by a Hip Hop artist and there isn't any FASO (Female As Sexual Object); when does that ever happen! I like Vampires and various fairytale type characters, and the choose good actors to play them. The fashion and styling of this video are cool but Timbaland's clowning is distracting and takes you out of the story. It just feels like it's lacking a little something. Maybe it just needed the mini movie treatment to flesh out the story...Real Life Dis-Functionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09079881649558554991noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5945099798096782027.post-7881721881534112402010-12-28T15:49:00.000-08:002010-12-28T15:49:26.221-08:00Skeleton dance<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/tpKCqp9CALQ?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><br />
I heard this song in a store yesterday. It is such a fantastic song... the video is good too. I think someone once told her to imagine people naked while public speaking and she took it a bit too far...Real Life Dis-Functionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09079881649558554991noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5945099798096782027.post-61546175325774093242010-12-27T12:50:00.000-08:002010-12-27T12:50:59.817-08:00Money Doesn't Equal Creativity.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">It doesn't take money to make a great video.There are so many examples of great low budget videos but here are 2 of my favorites.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> <br />
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/BdK9OlOzayE?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><br />
The first is a cover of "Running Up That Hill" by Placebo. The song is beautiful, haunting and sexy; it sticks in your head and the video does the same. There are a few different videos for this song, this one is a compilation of clips sent in from fans of them lip syncing along to the song. These are some very creative people, with great ideas and a strong visual style.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/yoN6XfyQsr4?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><br />
This second video is to a fantastic song by Dan Le Sac Vs Scoobius Pip. Clever, clever, clever. Just like their lyrics. My favorite part is the editing of the "just a band" part on the stairs. I also would have really liked to see him chuck the dictionary off the roof, it's a little distracting how he gets rid of it and would keep with the theme established at the beginning. This is not the best audio version though. the single version of this song has so much more passion in it.Real Life Dis-Functionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09079881649558554991noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5945099798096782027.post-14448188071730231612010-12-26T21:08:00.000-08:002010-12-26T21:08:53.452-08:00Not again...<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><object width="320" height="266" class="BLOGGER-youtube-video" classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0" data-thumbnail-src="http://0.gvt0.com/vi/sjSG6z_13-Q/0.jpg"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/sjSG6z_13-Q&fs=1&source=uds" /><param name="bgcolor" value="#FFFFFF" /><embed width="320" height="266" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/sjSG6z_13-Q&fs=1&source=uds" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"></embed></object></div><br />
I have never seen this video. I don't have to; I've seen enough clips over the year to know it is bad. I can't believe she is going the bad girl route. Seriously! Can you be even more cliche Miley! Did someone tell you if you become a cliche of a cliche it makes it cool again? This is not reverse psychology honey. This is lameness. I'm going to guess... reveling clothing? Scandalous dance moves? Implied lesbianism? I'm sure it's all there. Girls, don't try this at home. It's lame.Real Life Dis-Functionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09079881649558554991noreply@blogger.com0
